Topic overview

Kinematics and dynamics, circular motion and gravitation, energy, momentum and collisions, rotational dynamics (including calculus methods)

Key concepts

Round 1/2 cannot be mixed. This site only provides training with limited scope; unverified university-level methods do not enter new problem sets, and no claim is made to be an official complete paper.

Key points

  • ◆Follow the prerequisite knowledge requirements given by the examination body; new concepts may only be used when the question provides sufficient guidance.
  • ◆The examples on this site are training with a limited scope and do not represent full syllabus coverage or official difficulty.

Worked examples

Try each example yourself before checking the explanation.

1Basic examples within scope

A stone is thrown vertically upwards at u=5 m s−1u = 5\ \mathrm{m\,s^{-1}} from the top of a tower of height 30 m30\ \mathrm{m}. Taking g=10 m s−2g = 10\ \mathrm{m\,s^{-2}}, find the total time before it hits the ground at the base of the tower.
