Academic Reading
Topic overview
Academic Reading tests both rapid location and precise evidence judgement. First identify the question type, then decide whether to skim, scan or read closely; every answer must be traceable back to textual evidence.
Key concepts
True agrees with the passage; False contradicts the passage; Not Given means the passage is insufficient to decide. Do not treat your own common knowledge as evidence.
Key points
- ◆Compare the strength of propositions
- ◆Pay attention to all / some / may
- ◆Cannot find it does not mean Not Given — first confirm the locating passage
Worked examples
Try each example yourself before checking the explanation.
